Curious

Wellp, I did it. And it doesn't feel that great. I feel like I should give up facebook for another ten days just so I can get through them! Ugh so much work to be done that I would rather not do. So much math, so much essay writing, so much studying. Heck, I'm excited for finals to get here just so I can be done with this work!

Anyway, have you ever tried imagining what your kids might look/act like? I asked my parents this once and they said they never really thought about it and I was real disappointed, so this post is for my kids. Haha that's so weird, but I figure, if they turn out to have the same mind set and weird curiosity that I have, they would like to know. So without further adue, here is a list of my children, what they look like, and a few quirks and things that I'm guessing they might have when they're 19.

One of my sons will be blonde with blue eyes
The blonde one, who I will call Oliver at this time because I love that name for whatever reason, will be super athletic and a total ladies man. But because of awesome parenting, he will be humble and sincere. He will be the oldest and will look after his younger siblings. During his 19th year, he will fall in love with a HORRIBLE girl that the rest of the family hates. We will all struggle with this bitch of a woman until two years later, when he is 21 when he meets the REAL love of his life.

The next son, the second oldest kid, will have brown hair and green eyes. He will be my only kid with brown hair and everyone will ask if hes adopted because the rest will be blonde. I'll call him Zach,  He will be an excellent cook and will be able to play any instument that he picks up. He uses the same tactics that his brother used to pick up girls, but will have the "bad boy" edge that Oliver didn't, so he will be a heartbreaker. Plus he has my sense of humor- bonus for Zach! heh..   He is actually the smartest of the bunch and will win some sort of huge award at university. He will go through a phase when he and his buddies upload rant-like videos to youtube, but will eventually take all them down after me and his father watch a couple and deem them "inapropriate" and chastise him for having a filthy mouth.

My third child will be a girl, she'll be stubborn and rebelious like I was as a kid, but she'll also be respectful and courtyous to other people, just not to me because we will be just too darm similar. I'll call her Cora. She won't be able to tell time until grade 8, but she won't tell anyone. She will probably dye parts of her hair blue and get her bellybutton pierced, just to give off that edgy vibe, but deep down she will be soft and poetic. She is going to get really into inventing, and invent something cool when she'd only 16.

And number four will be an accident, born 4 years after Cora, will be Ryan the girl. Haha thats what all the kids in school will call her because "Ryan's a boooys name!". She will be the cute one, of course, the baby that everyone loves and that settles all the fights of the house. Always trying to do good things for other people and take on any project. She'll fit in with the other kids REALLY well because she had three older siblings to clear the path for her and make her a good name. She will have hazel eyes and grow to be as tall as her brothers. But it will take her 4 tries to get her drivers licence because she sucks at stopping at red lights.

Now, some of you may be thinking, "That was really creepy, Jory is weird". If so, try and imagine what your children might be like and wonder if your parents ever tried to figure out what you would be like before you were born.. *Notice how I didn't deny that it was weird or creepy.
And to my kids, who are probably nothing like the above discription for one of two reasons
A.) their names are different because my husband is a D bag and thinks oliver is outdated and ryan is a boys name
or B.) My husband has red hair or is black.
I don;t really care if you turn out like this or not, it was just fun and difficult to think about.
Haha and those two reasons that I just gave suck.

BAhaha I hope the people who's pictures are in this blog find this one day.

What was that? That was a chocolate falling from Bryna's heart.

Rant.
What is it with guys these days! It usually annoys me when girls complain about a guy who just won't lay off mostly because I know that the girl is doing nothing to shut him down. But lately, me and a few other girls have been having trouble shaking a few boys off (who are becoming mighty close to clingy, hell, Bryna has one that's looking at clingy in the rear view mirror!), and we drop obvious hints left and right! For example:

If a girl doesn't want to go on a date with you, she will say no.
I have done this. ITS NOT EVEN A HINT! It's a flat out rejection.

If a girl is too busy to talk to you, or just is finished with the convo, she will stop talking.
Now, I don't usually do this when the conversation is good, only when it dries up and I can't think of anything else to say. But to the guy I'm trying to get rid of, who is still wheelin' even AFTER the flat out rejection, I just won't answer him. He should know by now that I'm not interested in him AT ALL.

Just because we run into each other out of the blue one day, does NOT give you an excuse to start talking to me again! And DO NOT text me at three in the morning asking if I want to go for supper with you!

For those of you that don't know, this whole post is about Ginger James.
So basically only the first point is valid with EVERY relationship, but I just wish this guy would pick up on these things. He's  loser.

I think perhaps the biggest sign that someone is not into you, or at least not into talking to you, is if they NEVER reply. So stop sending "What's up?" texts every 2 hours and stop wheelin them! Because sending a bazillion texts per day will only make you more annoying in her eyes and will definitely not help you "get over" her, and that's exactly what you need to do. Move on and find someone else to pester.

Can I get an AMEN!?
or even a HALLELUJAH!?
Yea, hella sweet.

Kim's Grandma used to Rollerblade.

Inspiration for the day:

There's always those songs that you hear that remind you of something.

For example:
With You- Chris Brown
Takes me right back to 2008 or 09? When it was my ringtone for the week of the summer that I stayed at my Grandma's place. It went off like 400 times a day because all my boyfriends were texting me and buying me flowers. Heh. Just kidding. Took a stab at my own heart there. :(
haha kidding.

With Me - Sum 41
When I hear this tune, I go back to band in grade 11. We covered this song and I can't really remember what it sounded like, but I remember just beating the crap out of the drums when the chorus came. Haha, what an adrenaline rush! ... to sum 41.

Chillin- Wale feat. Lady Gaga
Ah, summer 2009. I basically just liked this song because you sound extremely stupid singing along with it. Anyway it reminds me of camping. Our powerless campsite literally on the beach at Meewasin Beach. Best summer ever.

Angel Eyes - Jeff Healey
For whatever reason, I remember back in grade ten, Lee did a presentation on Jeff Healey and we watched this music video. He pretty much just said that the guy was blind and then sat on a stool at the front of the class and watched the video with us. Haha, why do I remember these things?

The Bird and the Worm- The Used
HAPPY 16th BIRTHDAY!! Right back to the party that started it all. Well it didn't really start anything, it was just a bunch of 15 year olds and a pair of newly 16 year old twins that all drank too much cheap beer for a night. Well, the girls didn't drink beer, we all drank coolers, which was probably the worst idea ever because they were red, and we all looked like we were wearing a ton of lipstick after half a bottle. A lot of this party, for me, was in the back of the storage room in the basement of my house. Not for reasons which one might suspect.

Sugar We're Going Down Swingin' - Fall Out Boy
Sleepovers in Brenna's basement back in grade 8. We would all pretend like we knew what we were doing with makeup and hair products and try and give makeovers. When we weren't doing this, we were playing dress up (like 6 year olds. so cool.), or watching MTV or Youtube, or going on webcam with complete strangers. We were really stupid but it felt great, because none of us were actually allowed to be webcamming, so therefor we were being "rebellious".

Black Roses Red - Alana Grace
Back in ninth grade, my friend Page made me a CD for my birthday. Her and a couple other friends also made a scrap book for me and Jenna that year. Anyway, this song was #5 on that CD. My CD broke while this CD was in and refused to eject. So I listened to this CD for probably 8 months before throwing out the whole machine. Other songs on this CD include Flavour of the Week (#1), Bad Day(#2), Where is the Love?(#9), The First Cut is the Deepest(#14), Wake Me Up When September Ends(#21), Sweet Escape (#15), U and Ur Hand(#19) Home in the Hearthland (#18), Unfaithful (?) and who could forget,  What's Left of Me - Nick Lachey (I don't remember that number either)
hehe

As you can see, I had impeccably popular taste in music. But that's mostly because I was limited to whatever played on top ten. And radio around Nburg sucks.

It disgusts me that when you Google Image search "Eh", Lady Gaga comes up just as much as Canada. :|(

"Prospero uses his power as he sees fit because he's the meanest mofo in the valley"

Quoted title courtesy of my English Professor.

Last night I heard this "SCHLOOOP! .. Mmmmm" I was slightly alarmed at the sound and I turned around to find Jenna standing by an open fridge with a little cup of applesauce and the sound I heard was her "sipping" on it (and enjoying it). It shot me right back to grade three where we would all sit in Mrs. Newport's room, swap lunch items and hold Quiet Contests. For some reason I never got any "good" snacky items in my lunch. Always healthy things like apples, Salomi sandwiches and granola bars while all the other kids got chocolate bars, Lunchables and fruit-by-the-foot. But I was always so jealous of their applesauce. April always had applesauce and it just looked so good! But I never said anything about it, just sat at my desk and bitterly chewed at my saran-wrapped, over-baked, chocolate-chipless oatmeal cookie. THEN ONE DAY EVERYTHING CHANGED. That was the day that Baby Bell Cheese was invented. I didn't actually enjoy eating a fist full of pure cheese, but I liked the fact that they were wrapped in wax and looked oh so cool. For one day only, the other kids were jealous of MY lunch. We took the wax wrapping and made little shapes, dice most of the time.

I remember in grade nine in health class when everyone was given a slip of paper and had to write three facts about themselves that no one knew on it and then submit it into a hat anonymously. Then Mr. Worman would pull one out at a time and we would have to guess who it was. For some reason I can still remember 2/3 of what I wrote on mine.
1. _______
2. I believe that one day, the entire human population will be one race.
3. I would give my left kidney for a piece of brownie right now.
I don't know why I remember this, but I remember that no one could guess who wrote those three facts. And at the end of class when the bell rang, I had to stand up and say it was me. It was kinda funny but at the same time I felt sorry for myself because although everyone else in the classroom had been identified, no one seemed to remember that I hadn't been said yet. Haha, I don't know why I used to take things like that so personally.

When I was little I was terrified of the most useless things. Like swallowing watermelon seeds and gum. I remember once when I came home from school, there was a man that I didn't recognize in the basement. I thought he had broken in and was stealing everything. At first I thought about defending the house and setting some kind of booby trap like in Home Alone, but after about 20 seconds of trying to come up with something as foolproof as a bunch of toy cars on the floor (so he would obviously slip on them), I gave up. I quickly threw a granola bar, 1 piece of bread, 2 pieces of sliced cheese, my favorite stuffed animal and the $6 I had in my piggy bank in a paper bag, grabbed my younger siblings and headed for the door. We were halfway through the backyard when my dad came through the garage door (which faces the backyard), held up a KFC bag and yelled "SUPPER". I was fearful for my Dad's life and ran into the house. The man in the basement was making a ruckus now, BAM! BAM! BAM! Before I could warn my Dad, he took a plate of chicken down stairs and the noises stopped. He came back up minutes later and explained that it's only polite to offer the dry-waller supper after he had been working all day.
Mom was just SO ironic back in the day, look at those glasses!

I was too embarrassed to admit to my dad that I thought the house was being robbed by some scary man, so I took the paper bag and I stuffed it at the back of one of my drawers. My mom found the bag and the moldy cheese inside it 9 months later when she was going through our clothes for a garage sale.
I know Steph used this song in her post, but I like it too!

Gettin Down on Friday

Half way there! Ten days behind me, and another ten in front. But other than that milestone, nothing really happened to me today. Had a solid 3 hour nap & did some home work and studying (though, not as much as I had hoped to get done).

I had a realization a long time ago that I thought about again today as I woke up. I was facing the wall while laying on my bed, about three inches away from it. And I thought, "whoever is on the other side might be doing the very same thing at the same moment as me!" We could very well be laying right next to each other, maybe even looking right in each other's eyes if not for this wall!

Which reminds me of the times that I dream I'm falling or flailing or whatever and accidentally punch the wall. Have you ever felt really sore and have no idea why? I think it's because either a.) you're a violent sleeper or b.) other people in the room are violent towards you while your sleeping.
Excuse the offensive language of this video.

Jenna was tossing an apple around on the way back from supper and dropped it. It's in our fridge now.

Hurricane Simulator Fail

Last night I watched Pokemon: The First Movie: Mewtwo Strikes Back. It was good n cheesy. The pokemon cried and their tears brought brave young Ash back to life and Mewtwo realized that there was a purpose to life. It was a masterpiece.

Today I had a total of THREE uncontrollable laugh attacks. This is awesome because this is also the day that I payed for the ab workout I did at the gym. And although my abs were searing with pain the whole time, I couldn't stop laughing! The first laugh attack was because I called Information for the Sarcan street address. After info connected me to some random guy that had nothing to do with Sarcan, I asked for his street address. It took me a minute to figure out this wasn't Sarcan, then we both started laughing. I called my Dad after to see if he knew where it was and had to actually hang up on my father because I couldn't get a word out through all the laughing. Just thinking about it has me laughing. haha
The second laugh attack was because me and Jen had a huuge twin moment in the theater and did the same thing at the same time four times in a row. And you know laugh attacks hit you the hardest when your supposed to be quiet (like in a theater). We watched Just Go With It by the way. It was a very hilarious show. The third was basically just a continuation of the second, it was just me retelling what had happened to Bryna.

Hooo. Anyways, did anyone else ever have a singing toothbrush when they were little? Me, my sister AND my brother all had the same ones. (Except Arlee's was blue and me and Jenna's were white). The base of them was the cap of a tooth that had a face and the brush part must have been the root of the tooth. Now that I think about it, they must have looked really weird, but I thought it was just the cutest thing. I can still remember the looks on my parents faces when we opened them on Christmas morning- horrified. They were a gift from my aunt and uncle who obviously knew what they were doing to my parents. >:) How bad must it have been for my parents when I can still remember the lyrics to the song it sung? I mean, I was only about 5 at the time!
I'm your friend brushy brushy
I keep your teeth shiny and bright
PLEASE brush with me EVERYDAY
Morning, noon and night!
But who honestly brushes their teeth at noon? - Well, my Grandma does, but that seems irrelevant for some reason.

Have you ever Googled yourself? Being that I get bored easily, I have. My facebook page comes up, - thankfully this doesn't. But if you just google "Jory" you get all kinds of weird things like an insurance company (?) or a website or some red headed chick with a green shirt and bad teeth. But the one I find most (hmm whats a good word for this..) inspiring is this one:
Ha, I'm flattered to have my name used in such STYLE! I mean, I have always wanted to know what I would be like if I were a boy, but I don't have to wonder anymore! THIS IS ME! There is one disappointing thing about this photo though; Chest-Touchin' guy doesn't have his collar popped. And he doesn't have shiny blingbling like other guy. And his left hand is just a tad too floppy for my liking. And Blingbling Pointy over there is wearing Lindsay Lohan glasses. And Chesty Touch's hat is about to fly off- WAIT IS THAT FLYING CARS IN THE BACKGROUNDUH!?!?!?!?!

Flashback

Hey Blog,
The best way to sum up last night is green beer and big hats. And being that we got home at around 3:30am, I don't really feel like writing a whole blog today. So I'll do a lazy post.

I found this as a file saved as "Blogggggggg". I didn't remember what it was until I opened it.
I wrote this while we were on the road, moving to Stoon way back at the beginning of September.

Soo, I’m on the road right now writing this blog. Officially on the road to university and I can’t tell you how good it feels! Me sister and I are listening to music on my laptop (because the radio around here is less than stellar) while squished against piles of boxes and bags. Ah moving. I’ve never done it. Well not that I can remember. We moved across town once when I was two because my brother was being born and the house that I had lived in since birth wasn’t big enough for a new family of five.
Anyway this morning y mom woke me up early. Dad made our favorite breakfast – cheese fondue, and we had a relatively normal morning. Mom and Dad yelled at my brother to get out of the shower, Dad was singing his heart out (MOSTLY on tune) and Mom was organizing everyones lives with little notes that she stuck on our plates. Everything was great until 8:00 hit and I turned around to see Mom all teary-eyed, ready to leave for work. I have only ever seen my mom cry three times. Once was when my sister was little and had to be in the hospital constantly for two years because she was so sick. The second time was when my Dad’s parents died and the third was this morning. I felt a pinch of guilt but also more loved than I’ve ever felt in my life. Mom left and then there were four. I had kind of lost track of time and was packing up the last box when my brother tapped on my door. “Jory I gotta go.” So i swung open the door and literally flew at him and gave him a big hug.  We got really close in this last year as he started to move into highschool and all its dramas. (On a side note, there is a girl in his class, the most popular girl who wears oodles of makeup and flirts with all the boys, who has a crush on him. I’m kind of relieved that he doesn’t like her and that he can see her for who she really is: two faced.) Anyway, when i let him go, his face was crumpling and it looked like he was going to maybe start crying. And I just didn’t want to make someone else cry, so I pushed him out the door and wished him a good day. Awww, he’s such a good guy
Ok well now we’re stopped at a construction thing and Jen is narrorating the chicks life who is parked behind us. Here is some of it.
“The woman in the black Toyota behind us wipes the smudgey lipstick from her mouth that she must have hastily put on this morning. She pulls down her mirror and makes a super sexy duck face at herself. She is trying to see just how sexy she can look. HOLY SHIT she’s still wiping the makeup off her face. Talking to herself in the mirror again, rubbin her teeth. The old lady behind takes yet another swig from that go mug. Hopefully its not spiked. Shes pretty stupid too absorbied in her reflection to notice were moving now. Oh she stares at herself with an open mouth. Kinda looks like shes yawning. She looks like an oompaloompa with all that fake tanner. Shes so short that when she looks at herself she has to raise her chin right to the roof. Jenna forgot  that she had turned off the car and has a hard time moving forward.”
Yea. She narrorated all that ... Some awesome old construction guys just waved hhugely to us! YA! Just made my morning. From here on out thisis just gonna be about the trip up.  OMG we just saw Danae! She’s a construction girl for the summer. We stopped at her house earlier and dropped pff grad photos and wrote her little notes.
SHIT Jen forgot her alarm clock. HA I remembered mine. I’m excited to get a new phone!! And a calling plan so I can call people.  Ok bye for now.

Sepia Toned Lovin'

I'm thinking about converting to Irish. Is that possible? Doubtful, but I will do my best.

Firstly, I like wearing the color green. Oddly enough, today I have been repeatedly pinched for not showing my St. Patrick's spirit and wearing purple instead. Secondly, every once and a while I like to dance the odd jig. (And by that I mean, I enjoy listening to jiggy music when the circumstances are right). Thirdly, Green Beer. Fourthly, THE FOOD IS UNBELIEVABLE! I'm so impressed with it- even the soggy-looking cabbage was awesome! Fifthly- Everyone can dress in ridiculous costumes and get away with it. Which we shouldn't need an excuse to do anyway, but none the less.

I'm in a surprisingly energetic and good mood today considering for the past two days I have been overtired and irritable. Maybe it's because the coffee at the Arts caffeteria is strong enough to keep an elephant up for a week, or maybe it's because I got ~%80 on my history paper (that I wrote in two hours haha). But it's most likely because of my history class today.

Let me give a bit of background on my history class here. The course title, "Post Confederation Canada",  implies that it will be a boring class that will pretty much review all the stuff you learned in Canadian History in high school. WRONG! Best class I have taken all year! .. besides Drama 118, but you can't really compare that because that was more like playtime than an actual class. Anyway, our prof spews out the most interesting parts of history and skips over the boring political stuff. So far, and this might offend some of you, we have learned about the history of professional sports, sexuality, the KKK, the Great Depression, shell shock from WWI, and even so far in as local murders. But today we were focusing alot on the Great Depression and the prof went on about how men would ride the railway and sing songs like in that move Oh Brother Where Art Thou or whatever. So he whipped out a harmonica and started playing, then put lyrics on the board and made all 180 of us sing along. Haha at first I was one of the only ones singing and by the end of the song, everyone was belting out the chorus. It was so fun, although that song, "Hallelujah I'm a Bum" is still ringing in my head.

Some of the things we learn in history are heartbreaking. I'll post a couple of the videos we watched to prove it.
This is 1 of 5 installments on shell shock, it shows some of the effects like a man who can only hear the word "BOMB" or a man who can ONLY speak as if he is a politician lecturing an audience or a man who can only mimic those around him. These are real videos- its scary!

Doctors of the time blamed shell shock on "Bad Mothering" because a man would only be affected by the gruesome effects of war if his mother was overprotective of him and didn't let him play with guns as a boy.

Anyway, sigh that was kind of a damper on this post but I'm still in a good mood. Happy St. Patty's day kids! :D

Lardy Lardy

Just a quick update on Tight n Bright bowling. Twas fun! Me and Shandi won the two games of bowling we had - YEA UNDERDOGS! haha Stopped by McD's on the way back to get McFlurries and cheeseburgers, or chicken wraps ect whatever. And got stared at and sexually-verbally harassed. I guess we kind of deserved it since we were still in our tights and brights. But still. He was drunk and had no perception of the personal bubble space. That'll teach us for hitting up a McDonalds on the west side. Anyway, 8:30 classes tomorrow along with a test. PLUS ITS ST PATRICKS DAY AND KIRSTENS BIRTHDAY!
Bye blog and those reading it, have a fantastic sleep!

Before Math Class

I think it's about time I did another people watching blog. So i'll sit here in the sitting area of Thorv and do so.

The two girls sitting parallell to me are showing eachother pictures of tatoos(?) on their blackberries. Their both wearing tons of makeup and have their hair perfectly done- the tatoo they both like best is of stars. The girl with her hair mostly down is tapping her foot lightly while the one with her hair in a ponytail has not blinked in twenty seconds.
There is also a guy on the very opposite side of the room from me. He has very "Shia Labouf in Holes" hair. He is sitting with his feet wide apart but his knees close together so he can prop his laptop up. He's so still.. its crazy
Some boys walkin by, laughing and talking like "Duuuude that test...". 2/3 of them are wearing their hats tipped back.

There is five people studying- this makes me nervous.. I hope I didn't forget about a test today or something. One of the studying girls is mouthing all the words she reads. Let's see if I can tell what shes studying and put my mind at ease a little. ..... No cigar.. To me it looks like "Ba... Boo....Bababuh."
The girl by the door is looking around cautiously.. I think she saw me looking at her and is now turned the other way, kicking at the floor and talking on her cell.
Another girl is munchin' down an apple like it's her day job! HOLY look at her go! Haha, now she's done the apple and has moved on to her pen. Sill girl, pens aren't edible!
I just noticed, probably for the first time since I've been in this building, that there is symmetrical fruit-art on the wall. Its all to the tune of orange, yellow and green. There is lemons (but their green- so they're probably limes), oranges, and an explosion of french fries. That is more than just a little out of place to me.
This guy that comes by at this time every week, just walked past me to knock on a door that I haven't noticed yet. Then he just walked away. Hmm

There's the garbage can that I threw away my un-rolled timmies cup in. I HATE that garbage can. That cup was a winner.
I guess this place used to be the college of Home Economics. There is a glass case full of ugly knitted sweaters and wall hangings, doileys and a cross stitching of a Shakespear-looking fellow.
"ALISon HAS A FRIEND NAMED EMILY WEEKS WHO LOOKS EXACLTY LIKE ROBIN FRAISE ITS sooo SCARY! so scary!" That guy that just walked down the hall way said that.

I hate taking naps, but today it's neccessary. Bright and Tight Bowling tonight woowoo

Call me, I love you Hannah

Tonight, at midnight, will mark my one week anniversary away from facebook. I am pumped that I've made it thus far, and even more pumped that I don't even really seem to miss it! I made myself a To Do list of things I can keep myself occupied with if I ever get bored. This list already has 23 things on it - And I can add more now that the weather has finally taken that sharp stick out of its a**.
You want coffee now don'tcha?

Today we made a snowman, wish you could have been there Steph! And speaking of Steph, she said something to me the other day that caught me off guard. "We have to keep in touch next year!!" And too right she is! I have made many great friends here in res, and I'm glad I did, but the reason I was so surprised to hear her say this was because I hadn't really thought about it much. Like I was (and am) so stoked to live in a HOUSE next year that I never even realized the serious social drawbacks to it. Oh well, I guess if we're all living in the same city it shouldn't be that hard to keep in touch with the people I really want to stay in touch with- there's just so many!

And speaking of next year, I plan on taking on a heavier schedual in September. I decided against volunteering and committing myself to a bunch of things in first year because I wasn't really sure how much time I would have for it, I was constantly told in highschool that university leaves you time to eat, sleep and study- occasionally the odd party. But now here I sit, with time to write a blog - or go on Facebook for two hour intervals, and just like Steph, I would end up on the most random peoples profiles, just people that I had heard of from a friend- maybe a friends new boyfriend (making sure he wasn't a creep! haha) or an ex or some chick from a neighboring town that I had heard is psychotic and best to be avoided. I mean, if I have time for random, pointless things like that, I should be able to dedicate to myself to something bigger than myself, something that helps. I don't have money to donate to a charity, so why not donate my time?

I cried when I watched this... hahaha

Japan

I can't believe I haven't published a post about Japan yet, although I don't think it would make any difference, everyone already knows. But anyway, here's a video, its pretty neat but scary at the same time.
Its pretty scary whats happening, but the world seems to be helping out quite a bunch which reminds me that there is still PLENTY of good in the world yet, and its not the terrible, selfish place the news usually chocks it up to be.

Sunday, March 13, 2011

So I was at home today, waiting for the photo's that I just put on my moms facebook to upload (because for some reason, no matter how many times I show her how to do it, she cannot remember), and I plopped down on the comfiest couch ever and did what any 19 year old, university-going girl would do. Wrapped myself in two huge blankets and turned on TLC. Hell yea.

The show that was on had no recognizable faces, unlike John&Kate Plus 8, or Extreme Makeover Home Edition, or even What Not to Wear. And it took me a few seconds before I realized that this was a reality show, set in the home of a polygamous family. As I watched the first episode, it didn't look all that abnormal and I started thinking "Hey this family is normal! They all love each other, so what if the guy had three wives?". It went on to talk to the wives, and how they all love each other and have been happily married to him for 20, 17 and 16 years.
This is them. "Sister Wives"

In the NEXT episode, I went right back to my primary thoughts on polygamy: it's so wrong. The husband had a perfect life with 3 wives and 12 (and a half, there was a bun in one of  the ovens) loving children. But then he went and decided he needed another wife. WHY THE HELL WOULD YOU DO THAT TO YOUR FAMILY! The rest of the episodes I watched - I think I watched 5 consecutive episodes.. Sunday Afternoon Marathon haha.. Anyway, the rest of the episodes were of the wives crying over having to stretch their time with their husband to the max as he "courted" this new chick. All the kids, who had all been born after he was married to his third wife, thought it was weird to welcome someone else into their house. All the wives were having melt downs and the new wife was crying because she felt like she was tearing apart the existing family.

The husband was very sympathetic to all four of the women, but the dipshit did nothing about it. You would think if you saw one of YOUR actions tearing apart your family that was so solid before, you would call it off because you love these people. But he went through with it. Then his first wife approached him and was all like "I'm jealous that your spending so much time with Wife #4, how would you feel if I was spending time with another man like that?" to which he replied "Well that thought just sickens me! I would definitely NOT be alright with that!" .. o.0 So wife #1 cried a while longer (shes in her mid 40's) and then, to make her feel better, he took her to mexico and proposed that she carry another one of his children. ... o.0

Verdict: Polygamy is stupid and selfish.

Anyway, I got wrapped up in that series all afternoon. Time to go to bed or study.

I Keep Forgetting to Buy Mustard- Shoot

My goodness, is it day four already?
                         .. don't look so impressed :(

My no facebook run has hit a new record. I feel slightly pathetic proclaiming this to the world (er, I mean, my five friends who read this) but none the less it is a milestone for me. I can't remember ever going longer than three days without facebook (minus this summer at my family reunion where there was hardly any electricity let alone internet).

I'm at home, I slept in until 11:00am today- it felt great. But I didn't just sleep that long for no reason, no. I had a late night last night, staying up talking with my mom. It was actually one of the most fun conversations I've had with my mom in a long time. I told her about my idea to write a local history paper on the prank-based rivalry of the Agro's and the Engineers at my university, which sparked a bunch of fond memories of my mom's years at U of S.

She was never an actual Agro, she just hung out with them alot. She told me all about how "back in the day" her and her friends used to meddle in the Engineers lives alot, including stealing every microwave, kettle and other small appliances from the Engineer lounge and holding them ransom until they coughed up almost $300! .. to a random mailbox of course. She guessed that they probably still don't know who did it.

She also went on to talk about how her and a bunch of her girlfriends bought an old beat up car for $10. She said they pained it red and wrote "Courtesy of the Engineers" on the sides. In the dead of night, they snuck the car into the Arts building and parked it at the base of the Arts Ramp ( for those of you that don't know, the Arts Ramp is used instead of stairs to connect the first and second floors of the Arts Building, and has thousands of people trapse over it everyday). People climbed over it for two days before security finally moved it.

Another one of her pranks involved "accquiring" 30 sheep from a local farmer, then "storing" them inthe Engineer lounge. I thought this was  hilarious. But the best part of the whole thing was just getting to talk with my mom normally. Sometimes when I come home, my mom treats me like more of a guest, putting on the happy face that I recognize only when we have company over. But last night it was like she was talking to me like nothing had changed, and that was nice.

And it made me ponder if I have any similarities to my mom. I used to think we were mostly opposite, she was always planning things and very organized whereas I was always more Dad-like with my lack of need for things to be organized and planned. I always kind of thought mom was the safe one of my parents, the one that always took the high road and never stepped out of line. I honestly have no idea where I got that picture from, maybe it's just because she never talked of her "wild days" with me like dad did. But after last night, I realized I'm more like my mom that I thought. We both have similar sense of humor, and back when she was my age, she wasn't the same organized person she is now, but instead was just into having a good time. I have always been afraid of turning into my parents (I think everyone has that fear to some extent), but I mean, why should I be? My parents are laid back and cool (well as cool and laid back as parents should be, I mean, they  don't set a strict curfew but at the same time they don't encourage drugs or disrespect).

Note: Does anyone else feel like chewing on a boiled lentil is like biting on a sack of dust? Its just so.. gross and dry.

Thumb

A few things I've realized about home since I've left home:

1. The kitchen counter tops clash with the kitchen walls REALLY horribly.
I never noticed this before, one of those things that your so accustomed to that it doesn't even phase you. A couple years ago- more like 6 years ago- my mom decided our house needed a face-lift. The whole interior was painted and our basement finally got completed after being simply cement and drywall for 10 years. But before we could finish the house completely, we had to choose between new countertops or sending mom to college again. We chose the later, which would eventually lead to my mom getting a job at that college, but anyway, just never noticed that before.

2. My Dad has an accent.
Not a real foreign accent. I mean, he doesn't have any trouble pronouncing R's and he knows all of the general Canadian slang. But he definitely has a "Country Boy" accent, and by that I mean It;'s obvious that he was raised on a farm. For example, tonight when he was experimenting with his tweaked version of spagetti sauce, I literally jumped out of me seat when he yelled "HOOOOOOWEEE! THAT THERE IS SOM DARN GOOD SAUCE! HA! I GOT IT BY GUM! JORY TRY THIS!!". I tried the sauce. It was darn good. He spent the rest of his time cooking spurting out random sayings that I can only describe as Dad-Like.

3. My dog is an anamagus.
It's unfortunate that Bryna won't catch this reference, but Imma make it anyway. We got mitzie when my brother was born. That was almost 18 years ago. My dog was the runt of the litter and had the shortest life expectancy. Shes half Terrier and half Poodle. She got pregnant shortly after we got her, if she would have had the puppies, they all would have died and she would have too. Two years after that, she was run over and from her bottom rib to the end of her tail, her black fur turned brown. She developed a tumor about 4 or 5 years ago. Its massive, bigger than my fist. Two years ago, our entire house almost burnt down when her dog house started on fire (its right next to the garage, which is attatched to the house). Since then, she refuses to go in the new house we built her, she shivers through the coldest of cold in a blanket lined box on our back deck. Poor thing, but we all lover her to death and I swear, the only reason she has lived this long is because she is actually a human.

4. Internet is ridiculously slow
It's painful- thankfully I don't have much of a reason to be on the internet anymore ;)

5. Cold
I think rez has me climatized to 29 degree temperature. I come home and everyone is walking around in t-shirts and bare feet and here I am, bundled in sweat pants, bunny hugs, slippers AND socks, and sometimes even mittens. IN THE HOUSE! My parents are what you would call "green" people, as in, they like to save energy, but in the process, I get pretty chilly.

6. My house smells clean
You know when you go to other peoples houses, you can always pick out what they smell like right away, but you just assume that your house has no smell? That's how I was, until I moved away and came back. And its now one of my favorite smells in the world! It smells fresh haha, I can't believe this smell used to be so neutral to me!

7. The microwave in the kitchen
            Is ancient.

Anyway, I have a math assignment due in 25 minutes.

Just did that math assignment and got it done with 10 seconds to spare

A Slice of Sky

SSSSS

Day 2.
Less urges today- THANK GOD! But that was probably just because my computer refused to hook up with the internet. I don't blame my computer, the internet is a slut. So many bad, bad things out there- many of them turn up in Google image searches when I look for pictures for this little doo hickey. :(

So what happened today you ask? You didn't actually ask that? In fact you didn't even say a word? WHATEVER ITS NOT YOUR BLOG.
Well let's see. I decided to write my local history paper on the history of the Agro's vs. the Engineers, I went to the gym and threw around a basketball (literally threw it- I suck at basketball, as much as I would like to be good at it), took a lovely nap, ate a blob of starch that my sister made me for supper- Thanks for the noodles Jen! :D, went to a play that my friend was in... He was good in it, but I'm afraid he was the only one. And you'll never guess what I did next.

REZ LUAU! Heeeell yea.
Here I played twister, hoolahooped, found out I'm not as talented at hoolahooping as I once was, watched coconut bowling, got a picture with THE SEXIEST MAN not ALIVE!, limboed, found that I also suck at limboing, and collected candy from a smashed piƱata.

Did I mention I also danced with a group of fantastic friends? This group is not all into "sexy dancing" or "hardcore grinding", their more into the mock-kind of dancing, or just having a good time, not really caring what they look like.
            mmm I wish!

I wore my shades. That way, no one could tell where I'm looking... :3

Its funny that I could go swimming for 4 hours and be able to run a brush through my hair easily, but after a dance it takes a good 30 seconds. If only I had a weave.

Juice Boxes for Frogs

First day: Success!

I kind of had a feeling that without facebook, I would have more free time, but I wasn't prepared for THIS much free time. Today was the most productive day I've had in a long time. Besides the fact that I wrote a test that I probably failed, I feel pretty good about today. After that disappointing exam (which most likely will not be counted towards my overall grade- I would be absolutely thrilled if I passed it at all), I watched the recent episode of Glee to put myself in a better mood.

After that, I went for a 45 minute walk to clear my head, it felt amazing! You know when your just walking just for the sake of walking, no where to go and no time limit, that you just instantly feel relaxed and appreciative of EVERYTHING? Happens to me whenever I walk. Plus the fact that when you tune out the rest of the world with an ipod, you feel like your the protagonist of a music video- haha.

I spent an hour after my walk just reading, I caught up on reading the Tempest for english class. Then I went ahead and read the first 30ish pages of a novel that I don't have to read for another 2 weeks. You know, at first I HATED my English prof. I thought he was high on a drug. Called Charlie Sheen, don't try it or you will die and your children will weep over your exploded body. Kidding, he was (and is) high on himself. But last class, after finding out that over half of the class hadn't read the required reading, he flipped and cut class early. Woop! Plus he's always saying random, very frank things to keep those of us who aren't asleep on our toes.

Supper came and went- weird "toad in a hole". I looked questionable but tasted alright haha, pretty darn good actually. Then I subbed in for Bryna's volleyball team for an hour, then hit the gym with Bryna after. We only stayed for 20 minutes. There is 4 kinds of people at the gym;

1. The Hardcores- Usually sporting sweat bands or special "weight lifting" gloves, these people are always just given'r. Their most likely covered in sweat and in excellent shape. Their aspiring to become one of those fit&tan 45 year olds who spend all their winters in Florida where they can wear minimal amounts of clothes to show off their hard work.
2. The Weaklings- Often heard whining or panting while doing ab workouts, these are the people who are only at the gym because they realized, a little too late, that the Freshman Fifteen IS REAL. I totally fit in this category.
3. The Showoffs- Guys that usually wear wife beaters & girls that do their hair and makeup before coming out. These people are only partially there for a workout, their mostly their for eachother. Showoff Guys like to work out near Showoff girls, that way they can sneak peaks at each others hot bod's. And make everyone else feel inadequate.
And finally, 4. The Newbee's- These people don't really know what their doing, they feel out of place and don't really know where to look while they run on a treadmill. Some might try weight lifting and end up doing it wrong, eventually causing them to stretch a muscle they didn't even know they had too far. They often spend more time figuring out the programming on an elliptical than actually using it.

Anyway, those are some of my thoughts for today, I'm sure I'll be back tomorow, hopefully I can find more things to do to curve my craving for Top News or Status Updates.

Ps- Is anyone else completely terrified of Nikki Minaj?

Oh and I found a song I really like today, apparently it was on a super-bowl commercial?
