Forts/Grapes

So last night, my friend Kirstyn came over to my dorm. We weren't having a party or sending out invitations for a hangout session, but we did have grapes. But Kirstyn heard that we had grapes and made her way over here. And thats where this story starts.

Actually its less of a story and more of a memoir. We got into all kinds of conversations because of these grapes.  We started talking about what we remember from out childhood. We touched on old sports that we sucked at, a n embarrassing collection of diaries which Kirstyns dad found under her mattress which confessed her undying love for just about every boy in the school, we talked about how we were both the problem child and how we could get out little siblings to do just about anything. Then we hit the subject of forts.

I don't know about you, but when I was a kid, i LIVED for forts. Hell, I still do! When we were little, our babysitter let us rip up the basement and make what I thought was a whole kingdom of castles and cottages. A few years later, me and my friends decided to turn the whole basement into one interconnected fort. It was HUGE. All kinds of tunnels and secret passegways, of course it was delicate as anything because we ran out of couches and chairs to use as walls so eventually got creative and used hockey sticks and foamies. We made up names for each of the rooms, for example. There was one hallway that was covered by a red blanked (actually it was a kimono, dont ask why we had a kimono.) and the light shone through and made everything slightly red-pink, so (and this is where we got REALLY creative), it was called the Red Room. Then there was the Pillow Room (self explanitory), the Dungeon, and the Bakery (?) and all kinds of other rooms that I cant remember.

Next, we moved out of the basement and into the school yard. Every winter, we made snow forts. Like any small town school that was too broke to afford the new, cutting edge play equipment, my school had things like rusty swings, a simple may-pole and tractor tires lined up vertically and half burried to create tunnels. Hick, I know. Anyway, we made several forts in the winter, all with different purposes. We had the Safe Fort, which involved blocking off one end of the tire-tunnel with snow to create tube of wind block. We would invite the younger kids into it on days that were too cold to stay outside. There was a hole in the green tire so someone could always keep a lookout if the bell rang and it was time to go in. Then there was the Maze Forts. These weren't really forts, but more trails in the deep snow. We ran tracks in the snow and cleared out "nests" in the snow as rooms. These were for warm days when it was nice enough to be on your hands and knees in the snow through the entire period of recess.
Finally, there was the Battle Fort. There was always older kids who thouroughly enjoyed destroying our hard work and throwing snowballs, so to protect our selves, we made an abundance of snow protection gear: snowballs, snow sheilds and snow swords aka the really long, dirty icicles that would get up to three feet long and run off the broken gutter of the jr high roof.  The battle fort was epic. From the outside, it looked like a topless igloo, we built up snow blocks as high as we could reach, and when the younger teachers were on supervision, they would help us get the extra high ones. We never actually used our snow gear but we liked to think that it had a purpose.

My absolute favorite winter fort was the Ice Castle. It literally looked like this picture

Well I thought it did anyway. Our school was right beside the hockey rink, so the zamboni would pile up the snow in the school grounds. He would dump every pile in a different spot, so it looked kindof like mogels on flat land. One day, a bobcat came in out of nowhere and combined all the little piles into one massive, peaked snowpile. Me and my fifth grade friends immediatly took over the hill as ours and stared carving out little rooms and creating inventory. We had all the resources in the grounds and we traded them with other forts for cool stuff like sticks with all the bark peeled off or big icicles. The hill looked pretty sweet, but it had one unique attraction that made it my all time fav. The slide. We saved our milk cartons after lunches and filled them with water, then took them out to the hill and poured it all over the roughly carved path from the very peak to three meters in front of the hill so it was glare ice. The slide had two bumps in it that would give you a bit of air, and hurt your butt if you landed too hard. The extra three feet of ice was for competitions to see who could slide the furthest and for a quick getaway when the bell rang and it was time to get back to class.

After the snow melted, we would head to the forest in the park where we would build my summer home away from home. We cleared out a patch in the woods and all carved our names into the "Mother Tree" that grew through the center of the space. A broken jar hung from a branch and held all our treasures: bottle caps, glittery rocks and snake skins. I took it upon myself to create the resting place of the fort. It was pretty sweet. I took willow branches and bent them around eachother to create a dome-like room, then covered the frame with leafy branches for privacy. We had a pillow room too, which was 50 or so shopping bags filled with leaves and tied to create a solid mushy room. We had a kitchen in the thick of the thorn patch for whatever reason, no one went back there, and a bathroom behind a sheet of old plywood that we found in the Lost Camp (which looked like an abandoned campsite, it was really eery to us until we found out it was part of someones backyard haha). We had a lookout tree so we could see if the grinchy old woman who planted flowers in the park was coming or not, she hated us. Or so we thought. We perfected our fort year after year and eagerly showed any new improvements to our parents, who willingly packed us picnic lunches which we insisted on wrapping in a handkerchief and tying around the end of a stick so we could throw it over our shoulders like they did in the movies.

We made up our own code language and had marked territory throughout the forest. We had our fort, which lead onto Bird Trail, which eventually lead to some crazy guy's cages which sometimes had peacocks in them, then you hit Trampoline Trail, because there was the springs of an old mattress in part of it, then into the Lost Camp and to Slug Hill and Pee Hill. Each self-explanatory. Then finally we had Lookout Point which was a tree that leaned out into the open but was still mostly covered by leaves.

I was so disapointed the year that our fort got flooded out. We couldn't go in it for two weeks, and when we got back in, we found new innitials on the tree and the place completely destroyed. As we were looking at the damage we found bits of a ripped up magazine. We picked them up, they looked messy. But when we looked at them closer, we were disgusted! Someone not only had destroyed our baby, but also torn up a XXX magazine and left us the pieces.  That was the last year I worked on the fort.

Anyway, thats my little playback of something that was incredibly important to me ten years ago. I didn't go into that much depth when I was talking with Kirstyn but it was mentioned. Over grapes.

Flirtatious Felicia

So my football team just lost the biggest game of the years :( That makes two years in a row that they make it to the final and then lose.

I've become a Gleek lately too. I've watched 5 episodes in two days. I can now since I only have one assignment left for this term. But I love that show! Everything always works out and people know just exactly what to say and when to say it. I get that the show is scripted and highly unrealistic but it's still a nice fantasy.

I think these two things have added together with one other event to make me sad tonight, I went to my friends dorm after the game, with full intentions on punching one of the guys who was cheering for the opposite team for whatever reason, but I didnt get around to it, which is probably for the best.

Anyway in other news, I took this weekend off. I havent had a good break since .... I can't even remember. This past week has been insane busy and Im lucky to have gotten through it. Cant wait for Christmas!!

Hmm what else is new what else... This isn't really relevant to anything but I'm listening to music on a Youtube playlist right now, and the person who uploaded this video is called QueenSnuggie. Who the hell... :S

Right now I'm just waiting for something to happen in my life that will throw me completely off balance. I love when that happens, well not really if its a bad thing, but usually it makes me try harder to be smarter or nicer or braver or just a better person as a whole. It's so hard to keep motivated right now but I know I can. I actually have a decent amount of self confidence in all areas, just have to show that. Without being cocky. Thats just downright annoying! :D

Ok so writing this blog did cheer me up. Also could be that "Happy" playlist I'm listening to. Always a good thing to have. A word of advice: never made "Sad" or "Depressed" playlists, they just get you down whereas a good happy song can pick you right back up :)

ps. I love doodling, I just discovered this as I was going through my notes from classes, what a doodely mess!

Oh ya, and my sister drew a face on a balloon and called it Flirtacious Felicia

Life in a Nutshell.. would be rather cramped and uncomfortable

SO, hi! I feel awkward coming back into the blogger world after being away for so long. I thought I should tell my future self what I have been up to lately

September
- Adjusted really REALLY well to the residence lifestyle and university in general.
- Attended a few football games. Had fun being surrounded by rowdy, drunken uni students, and I'm being dead serious. I just got used to it after that. Because, in fact, the rowdy drunk crew from the football game seems to be ALL OF REZ!
- Won $100 in gift cards to Chapters. I hope my family all realize that they are all getting books for Christmas.
- Was shocked at the slack work load - Why had I heard such ridiculous rumors like "Secondary education is HARD"??? It wasn't until two months late (aka right now) that I realized the immense pressures of university and began to question it's former slackness.
-Turned down a couple handfuls of horny college boys and a number of guys that actually had potential
- Got a visit from a special someone.. floated around on cloud nine for a whole week
- Became active in rec sports.. found out that I am a skilled player in ultimate frisbee
- Decided that University was 10x better than high school. Even thought I really loved high school

October
- Still didn't find university hard, and barely stressful. Wrote two essays and two midterms. Came back with better than average marks. Go Jory
- Res party's start to get repetitive and slightly boring, but still had fun with them
- Kept doing rec and going to Huskies games
- Realized that I still want to be friends with my high school friends, and reconnected with a lot of them. Also realized that I don't have to talk to them everyday to still have the same friendship we had before
- Found out that my auntie had breast cancer. Was quite sulky for a week after hearing the news.
- Prayed with my family that my aunties surgery would go well. And it did!
- Found my circle of friends in rez
- Found life away from my significant other to be getting more and more frustrating. No communication, no visits. Was able to hide my sulkiness quite well. No one knew the stress I was feeling, except for a select few.

November
- Overloaded with work, found that, for the foreseeable future, I was going to be overly busy with schoolwork & exams, rec playoffs, friends breakup drama, and struggling to keep up with everyday chores (laundry, ect).
-Managed to keep a social life up through the above, though I was dying from lack of sleep and food
- Became the first person my friend came out of the closet to.
- Dealt with my own "break up" drama. But not very well. So many unanswered questions, still not really sure how things will pan out.
- However, I am working my butt off this week so that when my birthday roles around next week, I can actually have a chance to live a little instead of turning down opportunities and being a hermit in the library.
HERMIIIIIIIIT!!!!!!

So far, though its been tough lately, I'm really feelin university and my new life. Next semester will be unreal! :)
But for now, I have to get back to homework. (I have consistently broken my vow to never do homework past 10 pm for the past week.)

People Watching.

So I'm trying my luck with this whole "Cyber Cafe" thing. Except its not really a cyber cafe at all. The whole university campus has internet and I'm in A&W. Our assignment for drama today was to look at someone and write down an inner monologue for that person. I was surprised, while explaining this assignment to some of my friends, that no one knows what a monologue is. If you don't, its just one person saying what their thinking. I have to try and figure out what other people are thinking. And I think this is the perfect oppurtunity to do it. But I'm just going to analyze the people around me instead of prying for their thoughts.

Girl at the table ahead of me is wearing what I like to call "The Infamous University Touque." This doesnt really surprise me at all. Everyone at university wears their touque hanging half on the back of their head all limp-like. Hence "University Touque."  She's talking with her friend who is NOT wearing a hat. They are speaking Chinese. So enough of that.
The next group of people are at the other end of these two Chinese girls. These people are obviously a couple. Completely comfortable around eachother, not affraid to stuff a huge handful of fries in their mouth and continue talking until their done their stories. They smile at each other and wipe ketchup off the other ones faces.
The table behind me has two prof's talking to eachother. Their laughing at mature (and somewhat dry) jokes. The woman prof is wearing a lot of lipstick and its getting on her burger. Man prof doesn't seem to notice though.
Directly behind me there is a guy, I did not know this until right now when his "Empire State of Mind" ringtone started blaring from his cell phone and he answered "Yo, Dad" I don't really know much else about him except that he has a nice sounding voice, I would feel too creepy if I turned around to look.
People are walking by outside. Every few mintues there is literally a mini tornado of leaves that destroys a preppy girls hair.  People walk with their heads down most of the time. The odd time you get a looker- they constantly look around.
WOW. One guy just threw his lit cigarette into a pile of dry leaves. The girl behind him just stomped it out. What a saint.
Ohh even further behind me is a guy and a girl, the guy is obvioiusly trying to impress the girl with his knowledge of something, but the girl seems less than enthused, kind of looks like she just wants to get up and leave. I can't blame her really.
Anyway. I havent written a blog for a while so this is my contribution to cyber society for now. And for the next few weeks. MIDTERMS WILL END ME.

and i was like then he was like and i was like whoa and she was like no.

So I’m in an ACADEMIC lounge in an ACADEMIC hall which means quiet time is 24/7.

There is a small group of one guy and three girls talking right outside the door. Girl One has said “like” 18 times in one sentence. No word of a lie. Girl Two laughs maniacly at absolutely everything. Girl Three keeps on repeating “I know right!” and Only Guy keeps trying to add his two cents into the conversation but keeps being cut off by Girl One.
Girl One just left and although Girl Two thought she was HILARIOUS, she immidiatly said “Ugh can’t stand that girl!” Girl Three and Only Guy Agreed and make plans to study later. They said their goodbyes, walked four steps towards the door then stopped to talk about this weekends Hot Tub Party. Girl Two can’t make it because she is going out for dinner. At word of this news, Girl Three gasps loudly and most likely slaps her shoulder and says “You WHORE! With who!?!?!  Ha ha ha.” Only Guy tried and failed to change the subject.
Girl Two is now doing a reinactment of a time her and her gay friend were walking down the street. Every fourth word is OHMYGAD!!! And Only Guy and Girl Three are laughing histerically.

They just cracked a bag of fuzzy peaches and I can hear them chewing while they talk. It sounds really gross. WOW Girl Two just asked Girl Three where she got the fuzzy peaches. Really? I stopped writing this little story long enough to do a facepalm and continued.  They still can’t believe how good the fuzzy peaches taste. Oh now their talking about more homework they have to do. Girl Two and Three leave. OH there is a hidden girl Four and Five that hadn’t gotten a word in until now. They are talking about beer. Girl Four doesn’t like beer. Only guy likes Kokanee.  Girl Five thinks coolers are gross. They are quizzing each other on good types of alcoholic drinks.

I wish they would go away so I could focus on reading this chapter. But they won’t, their just complaining about how hungry they are and assuring Only Guy that no matter how many people point fingers at them, they are NOT sluts.

Sigh. Time for me to stop listening.  Well I can’t stop listening, the details are just too juicy!! Kidding. I wish I could stop. Anyway, this little incidence reminded me to be happy that I have a brain.

ONLY GUY IS TWENTY HE IS SOOOO OLD ACCORDING TO EIGHTEEN YEAR OLD GIRL FOUR AND FIVE.
I have to go.

Sound Effects Dragon

Lately I have been noticing how not-tired I am, and I keep questioning the age old stereotype that university is supposed to cause people to lose so much sleep that they have a nervous breakdown or have to drop out or completely lose their entire social life. I have done none of the above. So far.

But today was a different story. It could be that I have 5 classes today, and it could be that they start at 8:30 and run straight through until 5:40, or that I spent last night running around residence knocking on all my friends doors , begging for use of their printers. And of course it took way longer than it should have being that the internet was down and printers wouldn't co-operate with my laptop. So, after all was said and done, I finally got to experience real uni life. Running from building to building, half asleep and getting a friend to continuously poke me during a history lecture until it was finally over. Never again will I leave my printing needs to last minute.

My sister did my laundry for me today :)

Im super tired. I promise to never write a blog when I'm this tired again. Thumb Promise. There is less alliteration than a Pinky Promise but more meaning. I made that up. But what ever.

a girl who thinks she can sing... but really can't and everyone wishes she would stop

So back where I come from, fall is supposed to be the dry season. It's not supposed to rain. Sometimes there's frost. BUT NO RAIN DAMN IT! And all we have gotten for the past two weeks is rain. Every day. All night. Some days it pours, some days it spits everywhere like a slobbery kid with a speech impediment, but none the less, still rain.

Speaking of speech impediments, did you ever have one when you were a kid? My little brother could hardly pronounce anything, all his words sounded like "Ahhhuhhhleee." However, being that I am not even two whole years older than him, I could understand him quite fine and would have to translate for babysitters, visitors and even my parents. PAH-THET-IC. But not really because watching old videos, he really did sound like a mental child.

Another random thought is the lyrics to a song:
i thought i saw a sign somewhere between the lines
but maybe it's me, maybe i only see what i want.
Bonus points for those people who can identify that song without looking it up!

On another note. C#. I really want to know how to make the little sharp sign. And other little signs.

And lastly, why is it that when people make speeches, they all tend to quote Martin Luther King? EVERYONE does it, it's just not original anymore. In fact, the valedictorian for my grade twelve graduation (who nominated herself, just to give you an idea of what kind of person she is) ended her speech with a quote from "our good friend MLK." It's lucky we were all on   a stage away from the audience, or else the whole auditorium would have heard us all groan. Or snort in my case. He was a great guy, but graduation is hardly as big of a deal as conquering racism.

That's just a few of the things that ran through my head today.

This is a cake.

Parents trying to be "Fresh"

This photo has nothing to do with this post.

So my parents are pretty modern for their age, they know how to work satelite menus, play frogger and open up the internet on the computer. But it never fails to crack me up when they try to act more technologically advanced than they actually are. For example. Whenever my dad texts me (mom doesn't have a cell phone, she doesn't understand them) he insists on using the "Young Kid" way of typing.
"Hy kid, u no wut time da game is on???????!/11?"
Now my dad may not be a brainiac, but I know for a fact he knows how to spell simple three or four letter words such as "you" or "what". The part that kills me is that he thinks it's REALLY cool and that it somehow impressed me and my siblings. All I can do is give him mad props for trying. Haha
My mom gives "Hip" a shot by giving me fashion advice if we ever go shopping together. Of course she's trying to be cool by picking out low cut shirts and ripped up jeans, but she doesn't realize that those shirts are for fourteen year olds and that the jeans would fit better under the title "Mom Jeans" since they reach half way up my back by the time their done up. I find this slightly hilarious and adorable.
The last thing, the one that freaks me out the most, is the undeniable fact that my mom is slowly turning into a "Facebook whore". She writes on everyones walls, updates her status multiple times a day, "likes" fanpages such as "The Older I Get the Less I Care About What People Think of Me!" and "A real man doesn't love a million girls. He loves one girl a million ways <3" and worst of all "WOW THIS GUY WENT A LITTLE TOO FAR WITH THE REVENGE ON HIS EX GIRLFRIEND!!!"
 face-palm.
face-palm!
FACE-PALM!

Anyway, those are just my thoughts for right now.
This photo has no relation to anything either.

Old Diaries

Laying in bed writing mental notes about all the packing and moving I have to do tomorrow. Just as I was hitting the light to MAYBE start dozing off, my sister bursts into my room. Now there is several things that run through my mind every time she does this.
1. Something is wrong and I need to get up and help immediately
2. Something is weird and I should probably know about it or...
3. Something is hilarious and I'm probably going to laugh for the next half hour.
She looked at me with a perfectly straight face and then started laughing and said "Oh my gosh Jory, I just found my old diary." Yea, I was pretty pumped. I have two diaries from my younger days that I've read with her multiple times. One is from elementary school and another one is junior high. We laugh at all the little things that I thought were huge deals back then and at my complete lack of better judgement. But she has never read me hers because it's been lost for years. Anyway, I got to relive our first school dance through her eyes and her boyfriend dramas. But the more she read, the more I realized that a lot of her entries were about me and MY life. I had forgotten that I had to stick up for my sister to my so called "best friends" when they started back stabbing her and calling her rude and judgmental. I remembered how that killed me to think that they would stoop so low as to come to me to bash my little sister. I forgot about the track and field race in grade one when she lost her shoe in the middle of the run and I stopped to wait for her so we could both finish last. And I forgot about the one night when my old suitor (is that a nice enough word for stalker?) threatened suicide because I didn't love him back.
We ended up laughing at most of her entries, like her first introduction to beer at a grade eight party and how she just had an    :o   expression on her face as she watched our best guy friend take a swig. And when we both got asked to be grad escorts and excitedly said yes... to our ex's. We laughed because we both know that in the end, both of us would end up declining last minute. Another one about how the girl who we are now best friends with, had called her ugly and annoying and beaked her to everyone she could back in grade nine. There's even an entry about when the first guy in our class started growing facial hair.

Anyway I just thought I would write this down so I can come back and look at it later. Who knows when that diary will show its floral-covered face again?

By the way, the other day my sister told me that the emoticon " :o " reminds her of me.
... And I asked myself... "What? :o"

If things aren't Peachy, can they be Potato-y?

Spent my day (or the few short hours I have after work) thinking about depressing things and doubting what I know is solid. It lead to a very depressing evening. I'm usually the fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants kind of girl, but today I backed up a bit and started asking myself where my life was headed and if I liked the direction its on now. I could just feel my care free way of thinking slipping away and a very dark reality setting in. What should I do? For once, I am unsure of myself and feel self conscious, it's a terrible feeling. I'm hoping it goes away soon!

59th Street Bridge Song

This is an addition to the last post I made. Just think everyone should watch this video. It makes me laugh everytime! It's a couple of friends of mine..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=naJTVDO0gmk&feature=player_embedded#!

Music Pizza?

Always wanted to make that. Not sure how you do it, but I'll come up with something one day.

I felt strange sitting down at the piano after not playing in almost two weeks. I messed around with some tunes of my own for a while then started thinking of songs i used to play all the time. I cracked open an old piano binder and stared at the sheet music to a duet me and my sister used to do years ago; Morning has Broken. I looked at my part and was so lost. I checked the notes sight read for the first 5 bars, then all of a sudden, I was finished the entire piece. And what surprised me was that after the first line I hadn't checked the sheet music once! I didn't know any of the notes I was playing, my fingers were doing all the work. So I decided to play a Ludovico Einaudi piece that I had learned almost 6 months ago. I don't have any sheet music to this one so I really had to start from scratch. I couldn't even remember how it all was supposed to sound but, again, it was like my fingers had a mind of their own! So cool! I found that every song that I could think of, I could just play without thinking about it.

The following picture has nothing to do with this blog post.
It creeps me out now, because I get this mental image of little brains in every one of my fingertips. I'm so going to miss playing when I'm in university..

Holy Cow

If you take those two words literally and make some lame-ass dad joke about how a cow can't be holy, then I'm going to have to...

... Sue you. Because that's just what everyone's doing these days. Did you know that a thief broke into this families home while they were away for a weekend and somehow got locked in the garage where there was no food or water? Yea, he stayed there and starved all weekend and when the family got back, he sued them! And guess what. The world of justice is soo messed up that this robber guy actually won the case.

A lady ordered a coffee at McDonalds. Not an iced coffee, a legit hot coffee. Then she accidentally dumped it on herself and got burned. Muffin. She won that court case too. And that's why there is all kinds of "CAUTION: HOT" warnings all over the cups now.

So in the true questioning words of the beginning of a terrible song by American Idols own Jennifer Hudson, I ask "WORLD, WHY?"
... At least I think that's what it says.

Anyway, why is everyone so obsessed with money these days? Just buddy up to some billionair's great grandchild who will inherit all of it and your set! Ha, I'm totally kidding.

Ps. I think that song is called "If this isn't love" if you want to check out the introduction. It makes me and my sister laugh and quote it.

Let's Talk About Se.......ne kids

Yes, yes I realize there's a spelling error in the title, I don't really care.

Scene kids. I swear they hate everyone. Always beaking each other for being "fake-ass-scene" or "wannabe-scene" and always beaking people who listen to emo music, but who aren't quite dedicated enough to cut their hair in retarded ways and pack 4 lbs of makeup onto their face (no matter what gender they are). Beaking normal people for being "sellouts" and labeling people of other stereotypes to be attention seekers. Always talking about moshing, pig-squealing or warped tour (and how there is SOOOO many Wish They Were As Scene As Me people).

But the thing that annoys me the most is that a lot of scene kids think they invented some of the music they listen to. If they find one of their Non-scene friends likes one of their songs, they take credit for finding it and literally act like they wrote it. And if a song ever gets popular, then all of a sudden it sucks and the band becomes a sell out. UGH drives me up the wall..

Speaking of walls,

No we really weren't speaking of walls. So I'm just going to go.
I know you're DYING to know the difference between Scene hair and Emo hair. So I'll post a link to help you out so you NEVER confuse a scene kid with a emo kid. Man, that scene kid would be so angry, they would probably smack you with their huge, saggy earlobe that they stretched out with a bike tire.

Last Thoughts

Ever feel like your standing still? Yeah, me either!.. ever. Life is just a blur

When I look at my friends lives, though, I really am standing still, for now anyway. Some have moved out and are living on their own, another one has just got a promotion, then one of my best friends just got dumped while another bestie just got engaged! (Shh... I'm not supposed to tell, she's only 18!). Other friends are off to different universities all across Canada. Quite proud of them really. But sadly, none of my pals that I have grown up with are going to MY university

I feel weird when old people watch me put sugar in my coffee. It's like they give you the evil eye if you put more than a half a teaspoon of sugar in it. Maybe that's just my own suspicion. If I'm being completely honest, I HATE black coffee with a passion. Lots and LOTS of sugar. Actually at work, me and my buddy Adam figured that in one large styrofoam cup there should be two creamers and 5-6 packets of sugar. That way, you can hardly tell that its coffee! Haha

Funerals are really no fun. But the after gathering is somehow always more sweet than bitter. Everyone is just happy with remembering the person who died and usually there's a lunch. At this lunch there's always pickles. And I don't know if its the state of mind your in at the funeral or what, but those are always the BEST pickles you will ever eat! And tea. Always tea. The best tea you will ever drink. This is true for all events that happen at our community hall, but they still carry the title Funeral Pickles.

This is the last random thought, I promise!

When I was swaying in the wind on top of a very uneven scissor lift, watching two tornados come down out of the clouds and barely scrape the ground, I was thinking; Who ever thought of direction? And has it always been there? And now I'mm thinking, What if I would have died right there? The lift fall down and crunch me like a bug. Wow. What an AWESOME last thought. Hahaha...

I'm not going to bother explaining the sushi pics.

And also, at my funeral there better be Funeral Pickles.

Hey Future Jory, I know your probably pissed at me right now for absolutely failing at this whole "Post Everyday of the Summer" thing but I just don't have enough time! How did Past Jory not see this one coming..

Working some of my last days at Complete Body Workout.. (like I would refer to my job as its actual title, ha!). And sometime before the 30th I have to get all my stuff together. And by that I really do mean ALL my stuff. Finally completely moving out after nearly 19 years of being under the close watch of my parents. You have NO idea how excited I am about this! And no idea how absolutely opposite of excited my parents are. Well I shouldn't say that. My mom is pumped for me and my sister to be headed off to the same school she went to, my dad is a little less than enthusiastic on losing his girls. He is demanding we slow our social lives down so we "don't get into any bad habits for the fall"... I can accurately quote this because I get the same speech every day. Twice a day. And more today for my behavior this weekend. Went out three nights. But who cares? I drove on Friday, had fun on Saturday and was home by 11:30 on Monday. I wasn't late for work or dragging my butt instead of working. Oh well... I guess he's gotta deal with it somehow, I'll miss him no matter what. And my little brother. Its the greatest feeling to know someone looks up to you. A real compliment.

My grandparents are here. Me and Jen had a big talk with Gram. Like two hours! Haha she's really adapted to our sense of humor and is starting to pick up on some of our "young person lingo". She kept telling us all about the "lovely young, clean cut chaps" that she's met. We just laugh, as long as the guy is polite and keeps up with his hair, Gram's won over. Oh, and he has to eat. And eat. And eat. This is why she loves my friend Nick. Because he eats all her food. Hahaha, seriously he is her favorite.

Going to bed now, bye!

P.s. BRUISES.

I painted that.

... :P

My feet hurt, I'm tired, dirty and  COVERED in metal paint, but I'm happy as a kid who still believes in Santa on Christmas. :)

Nothing really happened today, it was just one of those good days where you can laugh at anything and just be nice to everyone. I'm glad today happened to me, I'm back to my normal, smiling self :D

Thats all! Have a good night Michael (because I know your the only one reading this haha)

In Need of a Nap

In the best way possible, I hate my job.

I mean in the best way possible (if there is one) because my dad really wants me to like it and work hard. But I just hate it so much. Boring, repetative, mind numbing work. Ten hours a day. Five days a week. And on weekends, I get to be a janitor. Which isn't much more exciting. I wish I was saving this money for myself. but nope, I don't get to see a dime of my hard earned cash since its all going straight to buying textbooks and printing accounts in university. My life has been diminished to being tired and sore 24/7. I miss my friends.

In other news, a nap would be appropriate right now.
But since I get to sleep for more than five hours tonight, I think I will stay up just a little bit longer and cut my sisters hair. That is all.

German Crowd

So spending my day working and hanging out with a family of happy Germans has me really beat. This post isn't going to contain much but I promised myself I would make one every day of this summer so I can remember it forever. Worked from 7-5 then just hung out with the Germans. Their super nice even if they don't get a lot of my jokes or sarcasm.
Thats all for tonight... SLEEEP! I can't wait :D

Ah, High School Parties

High school parties. Always the same. You can always count on 5 things.
1. Drunk freshmen trying to prove themselves worthy of popularity
2. Drunk seniors bottle feeding their underage peers booze to see which one of them is "Cool"
3. Drunk people that were seniors 5 or 6 years ago that think they have found their prime in partying with teens (which I plan to aspire to by the way.)
4. Drunk teens laughing about how totally awesome they are when they drink
5. Sober teens laughing at the abundance of stupid there is within each of their drunk classmates

I admit I have experienced all the pressures of 1 and 2 when I was a freshman. Luckily, I was never one of the ones who needed to get wasted out of their minds to have fun. I'm a pretty sturdy person when it comes to peer pressure and I'm proud to say I can hold my ground pretty well. I do drink, but that is because I want to. I have never poisoned my body with weed, cigarettes, cigars, chew or any other kind of drug even though I have been aggressively offered in the past. I have, however, fit into both 4 and 5.
Last night, I was 5.

Being sober around a large group of people who are "drinking their faces off" is always an experience. Some people get sour in this situation, but I try and make the most of it. It can be pretty fun if you pick up on the vibe of the party. So, luckily, last night was a good time even though drinks of all kinds were spilled on me, I was mooned and flashed, and sexually harassed.. cough.. I mean hit on...

That brings me to my last point in this post. Why do guys think its ok to smack a girls behind as she walks by? And why do they feel the need to tell you all the disgusting things they would love to do to you? Ugh, makes me sick. I like flirting, but guys should realize you can flirt without being creepy and sexual.

Just kidding about #3 by the way :P haha My real aspirations... Well, thats another story.

Summer Bucket List

So today is the perfect day. The weather is hot enough to wear short shorts and a tank top but cool enough that you don't perspire everywhere and look (and smell) like a royal mess. I have been mildly busy all day with getting the house and yard ready for guests. On days like today, I actually enjoy cutting grass, cleaning out the garage and cleaning up the deck. Its just beautiful! The only downer is that I'm giving up my room to one of the guests so I'm living in my 16 year old brothers room. And its upstairs so it MUST be kept clean because its one of the first things people see when they come in and Mom likes the house to look like no one lives in it.

On to more important things. You know how through every winter, you are constantly looking forward to summer and have all these plans to do what you have always wanted to do? And you know how half of those plans usually never end up happening? Well I've devised a plan for my plans. My sister and I have created a SUMMER BUCKET LIST! And i fully intend on finishing every single point on that list. So as I sit here eating Lays dill pickle chips (the BEST kind by the way), I'm still brainstorming. Here it is so far:

Build a human Pyramid
Pyramid of Cans
Pyramid of KD boxes... Ok enough of this pyramid fetish
Slap a creep across the face
NAME THAT TUNE!
Find and read a inspirational book
Pick flowers, oh! make flower crowns!
Skinny dip
Get new phone!
Ice cream cone that is 7 scoops high, thats right I plan on EATING ALL OF IT! ... or sharing it with a special someone ^_^
Invent a drink
Speak my own slang
Kill 3 dozen spiders. Take that suckers.
Take a little road trip to nowhere and just spend the day there
Eat a lemon... for no particular reason other than I hate eating plain lemons and I want to see if I can :)
Find my personal clothing style and find new clothes for university!... Most of which will be sweat pants.
Write my name HUGELY in sand
Attempt to fry an egg on the sidewalk, see if its as cool as it sounds
Get stuck
Get either a piercing or a tatoo
Reminder Songs.. songs that will always remind me of Summer 2010!
Crack my facebook addiction :P
Perfect our "Baby" dance... and by this I do not mean dancing like babies. Its me and my friends own special choreography to Justin Beiber! Who I do not see the point of hating so I enjoy his music :)
Let go
Get a nose job.
LOL jk on that last one.
Learn 3 new pieces on the piano
Swim all the way across a lake
Catch a fish that beats my last record (4 lbs! Haha fail..)
Save a life
Write a song for this summer
Discover something about someone I didnt realize before
Tell my Dad exactly what is going on with my love life
Tell my Dad to stop being so cheesy
Tell my Dad to stop treating me like I'm 14
Tell Dad I love all he does for me :) haha

So there you have it. It isn't a final list, it is ever growing! So if your reading this, feel free to leave comments of other cool stuff we can do.

For Michael

Happy birthday! I'm assuming that i caved and told you the link to get to this. But if I held strong, go me! I could almost consider myself proud for that.

Sunburns, Late Nights, Drinks and Boys

Blogs. They are like diaries that are left open for anyone to read. As if the one person you REALLY want to see this will actually see it... unless they google you, and that's just a little creepy in my opinion. Although I am completely guilty! Its too bad i have such a unique name, anyone that wants to find anything that i have posted in the internet can, whereas I search any of my friends and end up with some underground, Swedish pop singer who is trying to make it big.

Oh well, life goes on. Speaking of, summer has finally arrived and with summer comes sunburns, late nights, drinks and boys. All of which I have come across already. Seriously, this sunburn is massive. I managed to cover  the burn on my face up to the point where it just looks like I'm blushing furiously, but as for my chest and shoulders, no cigar.

Late Nights: ever tried sleeping in a tent while people around you are drunk out of their minds? It really isn't that much fun to be honest. Sure it was Canada day and it was definitly a time to celebrate, but to confirm the teens-are-ignorant-bastards-that-dont-give-a-shit-about-anyone-but-themselves stereotype by blasting music ALL NIGHT, getting wasted and baked out of their minds, talking profoundly while in the presence of children and lighting fireworks in the middle of the night (this is the night before July 1) is not my style. I feel like I'm the only one in my generation who realizes that to GET respect, you must first GIVE it.

Drinks: well it was Canada day, what more can I say? :)

As for the boy situation, ever notice that your love life goes through phazes? I mean I have been single most of my life and quite enjoy it, but for the past 6 months, I have had nothing. But now suddenly, I am being wheeled by a handful of guys. I don't know why this always seems to happen, you would think i would be happy getting my pick out of 5 decent guys. But to me it just means I have to make at 4 rejections. And try to remain friends with the two of them who were originally my friends. And try to let them down easy so they don't feel that sting. I have never been dumped, so I dont know that feeling but if its anything as bad as being the rejector, it sucks.. I cant stand being the one to hurt someone!

Wellp, thats all I have for now. I'll post nonsense later :)
