Hey blog
So my friends found this yesterday, DAMNIT JENNA!
Anyway, I was headed to class today, through a rather narrow hallway. I started paying attention when a man in a hard hat was standing against the wall further up. As i got closer I could hear him being like "Watch your step" as people squeezed by him. Then finally I noticed at his feat was a cord. The construction guy was being paid $20/hour to tell people to watch their step. I find this ridiculous and stupid. We are all in University here, I think we know to step over a chord.
But the more I thought about it, the more I realized that you actually trip more if you think about it. A good example of this was WHILE i was thinking about this, I was wondering up a flight of stairs, leading a pack of people who had just gotten off the bus, I was hustling because I didn't want to hold anybody up but I was also thinking. Anyway I hit the top stair and tripped. In front of everyone.. and to make matters worse I landed on my bag which held my laptop. I scraped up my pride and got to class.
My buddy, who isnt really a good friend of mine but we grew up together so I guess that means something, once choked on a Mcdonalds burger because he was laughing too hard at an old man who fell down. AWFUL i know, I wasn't there other wise I probably would have hit him. But apparently he laughed even harder and even pointed the dirty ol finger at him when he couldnt get back up. This worries me.
I just got randomly sleepy so I wont finish this blog or add pretty pictures like I usually do. ... Maybe just one.

Thinking Thoughts
Here goes nothing.
Time to take things up a notch.
Takes one to know one.
Ever thought of who comes up with catch phrases like that? Or jokes? It's a mystery that ive been pondering for a long time. Ever since my sister used to take credit for jokes she heard. I was always flabberghasted when she could (seemingly) come up with such witty jokes on the spot- I tried to come up with one once. Would you like to hear it? I was 6 or 7 probably.
Where did Romeo get Juliette's birthday present?
- The Jewleriette store!
Yea.... I had very little wit when I was little.
Other things to ponder: Color is made when light hits a color pigment and reflects off of it - so is everything black and white in the pitch dark? OR is everything invisible in the dark?
I tend to get lost in deep thoughts while I'm walking from class to class. Thinking of how I am now recognizing my parents as other people might see them which always weirds me out, or trying to imagine what my sisters kids might look like if she should ever have any. Figuring out which people look like people I know, or explaining to myself why people are so obsessed with image, wondering if it is even possible to actually 100% "not give a damn" about what other people think of you.
Its funny when you get thinking about your past how your mind kind of censors out alot of things. Like when I think of my life in general, I think I've had a very good life, I don't think about the hardships Ive faced, I actually tend to tone them down to the point of near extinction from my memory. On that same token, random unrelated things will trigger my memory to think of the most random events of my life. Like the lame joke above. Or remembering my mom talking about how she ate a lady bug when she was little. Or the time that I dropped my new born brother while trying to make him ride the new puppy (honestly dont know how my parents didnt notice until he started screaming), or seeing the commercial for some ty-dye teddy bear and wanting it SO bad.
Sleep. I have a feeling I might have some rather strange dreams tonight.

Annoyances
hey blog and those reading it
its been a while and ill admit, tonight im too lazy to capitalize properly and use spell check.
14/15 days I am one happy camper, but today was different. I got a minimized amount of sleep for the second night in a row and I think it finally caught up to me. Today I was annoyed. And blogging about things that annoy me will help reverse that. Here goes nothing..
When you sit in silence for an entire hour and twenty minute class , and it ends and someone bumps into you and says "Oh I'm sorry," and you, after not talking for an hour an a half reply "No worries" but it comes out all husky and scratchy and creepy sounding. Happens to me a LOT
People that feel the need to walk in a horizontal line across the hallway and transform into snails. This is especially bad when a bus load of people just get into the building and all have to walk down the narrow set of stairs to make it to class.
I have never understood the joys of taking hair from your head and pulling it out and sticking it to shower walls. But apparently girls here love it, I bet several of them have taken it on as an extra curricular activity hoping that one day they might be able to show their impressive hair-sticking skills to an employer to get a job. Ok, so thats more than a little extreme but oh well.
The death glares people give you for unpacking your bag in the library. Or typing. or turning a page, or sighing. Geez people, I'm sorry that your unhappy, but don't drag other people into your unhappiness by scoffing at them for doing homework in the library.
On that token, in res, we have lounges. There's social lounges and study lounges, neither of which are soundproof, and nothing erks me more than people deliberatly standing outside the study lounge and gossiping their hearts out. I think the sound might even be amplified in the S lounge.
When your sitting in class, and the guy beside you uses a corner of YOUR desk as an armrest. Personal bubble is best left in tact.
People complaining about res food. It WAS bad at the beginning of the year, but their improvement never ceases to amaze me, I now find almost every meal delicous
Finding a coarse, black hair in my food and having to become one of those people who complain about res food. Hey, at least I have a reason better than "this chicken is too dry!"
There is a limited number of TV's in res. Why can't people study in the academic lounges, or in their ROOMS for that matter, why take up an entire social lounge so we can't watch a movie ?
However, there is things about university life that I find hilarious. for instance
The chair in front of the seat i always sit in in biology is broken. It looks normal, but if you sit in it the whole desk almost flips over backwards or sideways. I get to witness clueless people attempt to sit in this chair every Mon, Wed and Friday. I also get to watch them collect their pride and get out of the seat and try to play it cool like nothing happened. One time a girl had enough pride to sit in that chair all class.
The random, stupid things you overhear in the hallways everyday. There is so many silly thinngs said here that someone actually made a facebook page where people could document what they hear. Stupid things overheard at U of S. So so so funny.
Seeing profs outside of class. Its like their normal people or something
People who post wanted ads everywhere that dont know the difference between Suite and Sweet
Watching people try to eat sloppy joes or spaggetti politely. Not happening, but still funny.
I am actually very greatful for this place, mainly for one reason.
The ability to be yourself around anyone, and have them accept you for it.
Whoah who saw that ending coming? Thanks blog,
for happying me.

Randomness Experiment
Tonight I conducted my own little experiment on facebook chat. It looked something like this.
Each picture is someones reply to "Random word please?"
With these results I came to several conclusions.
1. Most people chose food as a random word, making these people slightly less random than some of the other, more unique responses.
2. The first two people chose animals, but not standard animals, proving that, though they thought along the same lines, they are random people.
3. The people who chose Smug, Natural and Flavour chose descriptive words, meaning that they are random in description. Actually, come to think of it, one of these people often rambles off on descriptions of random things, fitting.
4. Approximatlly 30% of the people I asked replied to the question without hesitation or without the need for reassurance that it was "good?". These people are random.
5. This whole experiment started simply because I wanted to see what people would say. But sociology has done things to me and I feel like I should analyze my results, And I still have no idea if my hypothesis are even close to accurate haha.
Also, Im not sure if the picture that goes with the second last one ( i dont want to re-write it) is actually what it is, it was just one of the first pictures that popped up on google.
Spaghetti
Trifalu
Flavour
Poop (because a guy who is older than me is also more mature than me)
Unlugubriousness
Hermione

Forts/Grapes
So last night, my friend Kirstyn came over to my dorm. We weren't having a party or sending out invitations for a hangout session, but we did have grapes. But Kirstyn heard that we had grapes and made her way over here. And thats where this story starts.
Actually its less of a story and more of a memoir. We got into all kinds of conversations because of these grapes. We started talking about what we remember from out childhood. We touched on old sports that we sucked at, a n embarrassing collection of diaries which Kirstyns dad found under her mattress which confessed her undying love for just about every boy in the school, we talked about how we were both the problem child and how we could get out little siblings to do just about anything. Then we hit the subject of forts.
I don't know about you, but when I was a kid, i LIVED for forts. Hell, I still do! When we were little, our babysitter let us rip up the basement and make what I thought was a whole kingdom of castles and cottages. A few years later, me and my friends decided to turn the whole basement into one interconnected fort. It was HUGE. All kinds of tunnels and secret passegways, of course it was delicate as anything because we ran out of couches and chairs to use as walls so eventually got creative and used hockey sticks and foamies. We made up names for each of the rooms, for example. There was one hallway that was covered by a red blanked (actually it was a kimono, dont ask why we had a kimono.) and the light shone through and made everything slightly red-pink, so (and this is where we got REALLY creative), it was called the Red Room. Then there was the Pillow Room (self explanitory), the Dungeon, and the Bakery (?) and all kinds of other rooms that I cant remember.
Next, we moved out of the basement and into the school yard. Every winter, we made snow forts. Like any small town school that was too broke to afford the new, cutting edge play equipment, my school had things like rusty swings, a simple may-pole and tractor tires lined up vertically and half burried to create tunnels. Hick, I know. Anyway, we made several forts in the winter, all with different purposes. We had the Safe Fort, which involved blocking off one end of the tire-tunnel with snow to create tube of wind block. We would invite the younger kids into it on days that were too cold to stay outside. There was a hole in the green tire so someone could always keep a lookout if the bell rang and it was time to go in. Then there was the Maze Forts. These weren't really forts, but more trails in the deep snow. We ran tracks in the snow and cleared out "nests" in the snow as rooms. These were for warm days when it was nice enough to be on your hands and knees in the snow through the entire period of recess.
Finally, there was the Battle Fort. There was always older kids who thouroughly enjoyed destroying our hard work and throwing snowballs, so to protect our selves, we made an abundance of snow protection gear: snowballs, snow sheilds and snow swords aka the really long, dirty icicles that would get up to three feet long and run off the broken gutter of the jr high roof. The battle fort was epic. From the outside, it looked like a topless igloo, we built up snow blocks as high as we could reach, and when the younger teachers were on supervision, they would help us get the extra high ones. We never actually used our snow gear but we liked to think that it had a purpose.
My absolute favorite winter fort was the Ice Castle. It literally looked like this picture
Well I thought it did anyway. Our school was right beside the hockey rink, so the zamboni would pile up the snow in the school grounds. He would dump every pile in a different spot, so it looked kindof like mogels on flat land. One day, a bobcat came in out of nowhere and combined all the little piles into one massive, peaked snowpile. Me and my fifth grade friends immediatly took over the hill as ours and stared carving out little rooms and creating inventory. We had all the resources in the grounds and we traded them with other forts for cool stuff like sticks with all the bark peeled off or big icicles. The hill looked pretty sweet, but it had one unique attraction that made it my all time fav. The slide. We saved our milk cartons after lunches and filled them with water, then took them out to the hill and poured it all over the roughly carved path from the very peak to three meters in front of the hill so it was glare ice. The slide had two bumps in it that would give you a bit of air, and hurt your butt if you landed too hard. The extra three feet of ice was for competitions to see who could slide the furthest and for a quick getaway when the bell rang and it was time to get back to class.
After the snow melted, we would head to the forest in the park where we would build my summer home away from home. We cleared out a patch in the woods and all carved our names into the "Mother Tree" that grew through the center of the space. A broken jar hung from a branch and held all our treasures: bottle caps, glittery rocks and snake skins. I took it upon myself to create the resting place of the fort. It was pretty sweet. I took willow branches and bent them around eachother to create a dome-like room, then covered the frame with leafy branches for privacy. We had a pillow room too, which was 50 or so shopping bags filled with leaves and tied to create a solid mushy room. We had a kitchen in the thick of the thorn patch for whatever reason, no one went back there, and a bathroom behind a sheet of old plywood that we found in the Lost Camp (which looked like an abandoned campsite, it was really eery to us until we found out it was part of someones backyard haha). We had a lookout tree so we could see if the grinchy old woman who planted flowers in the park was coming or not, she hated us. Or so we thought. We perfected our fort year after year and eagerly showed any new improvements to our parents, who willingly packed us picnic lunches which we insisted on wrapping in a handkerchief and tying around the end of a stick so we could throw it over our shoulders like they did in the movies.
We made up our own code language and had marked territory throughout the forest. We had our fort, which lead onto Bird Trail, which eventually lead to some crazy guy's cages which sometimes had peacocks in them, then you hit Trampoline Trail, because there was the springs of an old mattress in part of it, then into the Lost Camp and to Slug Hill and Pee Hill. Each self-explanatory. Then finally we had Lookout Point which was a tree that leaned out into the open but was still mostly covered by leaves.
I was so disapointed the year that our fort got flooded out. We couldn't go in it for two weeks, and when we got back in, we found new innitials on the tree and the place completely destroyed. As we were looking at the damage we found bits of a ripped up magazine. We picked them up, they looked messy. But when we looked at them closer, we were disgusted! Someone not only had destroyed our baby, but also torn up a XXX magazine and left us the pieces. That was the last year I worked on the fort.
Anyway, thats my little playback of something that was incredibly important to me ten years ago. I didn't go into that much depth when I was talking with Kirstyn but it was mentioned. Over grapes.

Flirtatious Felicia
So my football team just lost the biggest game of the years :( That makes two years in a row that they make it to the final and then lose.
I've become a Gleek lately too. I've watched 5 episodes in two days. I can now since I only have one assignment left for this term. But I love that show! Everything always works out and people know just exactly what to say and when to say it. I get that the show is scripted and highly unrealistic but it's still a nice fantasy.
I think these two things have added together with one other event to make me sad tonight, I went to my friends dorm after the game, with full intentions on punching one of the guys who was cheering for the opposite team for whatever reason, but I didnt get around to it, which is probably for the best.
Anyway in other news, I took this weekend off. I havent had a good break since .... I can't even remember. This past week has been insane busy and Im lucky to have gotten through it. Cant wait for Christmas!!
Hmm what else is new what else... This isn't really relevant to anything but I'm listening to music on a Youtube playlist right now, and the person who uploaded this video is called QueenSnuggie. Who the hell... :S
Right now I'm just waiting for something to happen in my life that will throw me completely off balance. I love when that happens, well not really if its a bad thing, but usually it makes me try harder to be smarter or nicer or braver or just a better person as a whole. It's so hard to keep motivated right now but I know I can. I actually have a decent amount of self confidence in all areas, just have to show that. Without being cocky. Thats just downright annoying! :D
Ok so writing this blog did cheer me up. Also could be that "Happy" playlist I'm listening to. Always a good thing to have. A word of advice: never made "Sad" or "Depressed" playlists, they just get you down whereas a good happy song can pick you right back up :)
ps. I love doodling, I just discovered this as I was going through my notes from classes, what a doodely mess!
Oh ya, and my sister drew a face on a balloon and called it Flirtacious Felicia

Life in a Nutshell.. would be rather cramped and uncomfortable
SO, hi! I feel awkward coming back into the blogger world after being away for so long. I thought I should tell my future self what I have been up to lately
September
- Adjusted really REALLY well to the residence lifestyle and university in general.
- Attended a few football games. Had fun being surrounded by rowdy, drunken uni students, and I'm being dead serious. I just got used to it after that. Because, in fact, the rowdy drunk crew from the football game seems to be ALL OF REZ!
- Won $100 in gift cards to Chapters. I hope my family all realize that they are all getting books for Christmas.
- Was shocked at the slack work load - Why had I heard such ridiculous rumors like "Secondary education is HARD"??? It wasn't until two months late (aka right now) that I realized the immense pressures of university and began to question it's former slackness.
-Turned down a couple handfuls of horny college boys and a number of guys that actually had potential
- Got a visit from a special someone.. floated around on cloud nine for a whole week
- Became active in rec sports.. found out that I am a skilled player in ultimate frisbee
- Decided that University was 10x better than high school. Even thought I really loved high school
October
- Still didn't find university hard, and barely stressful. Wrote two essays and two midterms. Came back with better than average marks. Go Jory
- Res party's start to get repetitive and slightly boring, but still had fun with them
- Kept doing rec and going to Huskies games
- Realized that I still want to be friends with my high school friends, and reconnected with a lot of them. Also realized that I don't have to talk to them everyday to still have the same friendship we had before
- Found out that my auntie had breast cancer. Was quite sulky for a week after hearing the news.
- Prayed with my family that my aunties surgery would go well. And it did!
- Found my circle of friends in rez
- Found life away from my significant other to be getting more and more frustrating. No communication, no visits. Was able to hide my sulkiness quite well. No one knew the stress I was feeling, except for a select few.
November
- Overloaded with work, found that, for the foreseeable future, I was going to be overly busy with schoolwork & exams, rec playoffs, friends breakup drama, and struggling to keep up with everyday chores (laundry, ect).
-Managed to keep a social life up through the above, though I was dying from lack of sleep and food
- Became the first person my friend came out of the closet to.
- Dealt with my own "break up" drama. But not very well. So many unanswered questions, still not really sure how things will pan out.
- However, I am working my butt off this week so that when my birthday roles around next week, I can actually have a chance to live a little instead of turning down opportunities and being a hermit in the library.
So far, though its been tough lately, I'm really feelin university and my new life. Next semester will be unreal! :)
But for now, I have to get back to homework. (I have consistently broken my vow to never do homework past 10 pm for the past week.)
Go Jory
